Fireworks and Safety Tips For a Fun New Years 2026

Q: What kinds of fireworks can you buy in Alabama?
Alabama allows a wide variety of consumer fireworks, including roman candles, bottle rockets, fountains, sparklers and even artillery shells (mortars). Stores like Joe Dirt Fireworks, TNT Fireworks and roadside warehouses around Madison and Athens typically stock up with massive year-end selections. Just note: aerial fireworks are illegal within Madison City limits, so you’ll need to head to the county or check local ordinances.

Q: Is it legal to shoot fireworks in Madison on New Year’s Eve?
Not within the City of Madison, where the use of fireworks is prohibited by ordinance for safety reasons. However, if you’re outside city limits in unincorporated Madison County, personal fireworks are allowed... just be respectful of neighbors, pets, and property.

Q: What are some safety tips for enjoying fireworks at home?
1) Always read the labels and follow instructions.
2) Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby.
3) Light fireworks one at a time and never relight duds.
4) Only allow adults to handle fireworks... sparklers burn hotter than you think!
5) Make sure to clean up debris and keep the area clear.

Q: What are the best New Year’s Eve shows to watch from home?
- ABC's Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest is the classic go-to for the Times Square countdown.

- CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper is a more laid-back option.

- CBS's Nashville's Big Bash LIVE

It's a Toss Up

It's gonna be a new year and we all know what happens with New Years resolutions... by the time February rolls around, we typically forget what goals we set for ourselves... So I have two recommendations and don't worry, you don't have to break a sweat.

1) How about up-skilling? With what's going on in today's world, we need to learn some additional skills to make us more valuable and it may be an AI course or maybe a crafting course so you can pick up a side hustle. So pick up a course here at Udemy. It won't break the bank, it won't take a year to go through the content. You'll be having a great year in no time.

2) Habits are such a big part of life... so it's important to learn about them. One of the best audiobooks I've ever picked up and would recommend to anyone trying to get ahead or needing a change is to pick up Atomic Habits.

If you do choose any of the above, please reply so I can congratulate you. I'd love to know. Investing in yourself is the best kind ❤️
