Residents in Alabama took advantage of a winter storm that brought snow and ice to the state by hitting the slopes for some snowboarding and skiing.

The storm created challenging driving conditions across the state, leading to some road closures. However, some residents made the most of the snowy weather by participating in outdoor winter activities.

The popularity of snowboarding and skiing in Alabama continues to grow as more people embrace the winter sports opportunities that come with rare snowfalls in the state.

Tamarind Island Grille

Tamarind Island Grill has become one of those places people bring up the second someone says “I want something different but still comforting.” It’s Caribbean food that hits big on flavor without feeling heavy and it has built a loyal following in Huntsville’s MidCity area.

This is very much a grab-it-and-enjoy-it kind of stop. Think casual, fast-moving and perfect for a lunch break or an easy dinner plan when you want bold flavor without a long sit-down.

You’re coming here for island favorites with serious personality. The core menu usually includes...

    • Jerk chicken meal with that smoky heat and sweet-savory finish
    • Curry chicken and stew chicken for rich, saucy comfort
    • Jerk wings when you want maximum flavor per bite
    • Fish plates and fish and chips for a lighter but still satisfying option
    • Sunday oxtails as a special that people plan around, order early when you see them

Bonus points: Tamarind Island is also known for vegan options that are not afterthoughts, which makes it an easy pick for mixed groups.

Most meals land around $12 to $18 with some specials running higher depending on the day and availability.

Fans regularly talk about big portions, fresh ingredients and flavors that feel “worth the drive.” The oxtails get particular love and people mention they can sell out, so earlier is smarter if you have your heart set on them.

Just One More Vacuum (I Swear)

I know what you’re thinking.

“Another vacuum?”

Yes. Another one.

But hear me out... this one’s different.

It’s a hand vac... Compact... Cordless. Lives in a drawer.

And it's not like the others... it fills in the gaps.

Crumbs in the car? Done. Pet hair on the couch? Handled. Mystery trail of dirt on the stairs? Boom. Chips on the table? Blow it on to your kids lap. Yes... It blows!

I’ve got uprights. Stick vacs. One that turns into a mop.

But this little guy? He’s the MVP. The cleanup ninja.

The vacuum I didn’t know I needed… well I knew I needed by my daughter stole my other one and this one is better.

Do I have a vacuum problem? Maybe.

But I also have a very clean house. OK... I'm lying... but it's clean... er...

Judge me if you must... but this one earns its place. Small, mighty and weirdly satisfying.
