Alabama grocery tax suspension is still in effect through June 30

Alabama has temporarily suspended the state portion of sales and use tax on food from May 1 through June 30, 2026. Madison shoppers should know this does not remove city or county food taxes, so grocery receipts may still show local taxes. Small retailers and restaurants that sell qualifying food items should also make sure they are reporting sales correctly during the suspension period. [Read More]

La Parrilla

La Parrilla just opened at Clift Farm and it gives Madison another solid option for a sit-down Mexican meal that still moves fast when you are hungry.

Expect a full menu beyond the usual combo plates. Friends who visited called out items like birria quesadillas, tacos de tinga and a Cubano bowl with shredded brisket and plantains which is a good sign they aren't playing it safe.

If you want an easy first experience, go with something you already love then add a “new for you” item from the specials list so you get both comfort and discovery in the same meal.

I saw the menu and hitting this place up today!

Privacy Film for You And Your Plants

Argh!... My plants were suffering. They were in front of a south facing window and I just couldn't get the blinds right to cut down the light so I got this privacy film. Now my neighbors can't see me walkin' around in my undies and I can't see them too, but now my plants have this nice filtered light.

BTW... whatever happened to all the stained glass that use to be on Catholic churches? I see less and less.
