Huntsville author James Donahoe has released his debut sci-fi novel, Center Star, a far-future story exploring power, prejudice and identity.

The tale unfolds across two neighboring worlds... one ruled by the strength-obsessed Titans, the other by the formidable Queen Xara... whose deep mutual hatred is shattered when their rulers form a forbidden bond.

Their son, Odyssey, grows up rejected and searching for belonging, with hints of a looming danger threatening both civilizations.

Donahoe, a broadcast journalist with a background in film, began writing the novel after a serious health diagnosis... turning a personal crisis into a powerful act of purpose.

Debt-relief offers may redirect payments to scammers

The FTC is warning about companies that promise to solve debt problems but instead persuade consumers to pay them rather than the actual lender. Residents should contact creditors directly, avoid companies demanding upfront payments and verify any claimed debt-settlement arrangement before sending money or sharing account information.

Here’s a look at the 7-day weather forecast for Madison, AL:

My kid said they are nervous about the first day. I said, "Me too. I have to remember carline rules again."

Namu Modern Korean Cuisine

Namu Modern Korean Cuisine is a Korean restaurant on Holmes Avenue in downtown Huntsville. The menu centers on familiar Korean dishes like bulgogi, bibimbap, kimchi jjigae, kimbap, mandu and Korean fried chicken. For downtown readers, it adds another full sit-down option when you want something different from the usual lunch or dinner rotation.

The best first visit order is probably one of the dishes that shows off contrast. Bibimbap gives you rice, vegetables, egg, sauce and seasoned meat in one bowl. Bulgogi brings the sweet-savory beef flavor many people expect from Korean barbecue. Mandu is an easy table starter and kimbap works well if you want something lighter but still filling.

If you are new to Korean food, start with bulgogi or bibimbap. If you already know what you like, look at the stews, fried chicken and rice dishes. Add something cold or sweet from the drink side if you want to round out the meal.

Expect a newer downtown restaurant still settling in. Go with a little time, read the menu and order a few things to share if your table is curious. This is a good one for a lunch that feels different or a casual dinner before walking around downtown.

I Didn't Realize What Humidity Was Until...

I was walking around Lowes one day and as usual, I tend to pickup random buys.

I'm guessing everyone uses baking soda to absorb moisture and smells... and then it gets hard and nasty. Well this was something similar. But the only difference was that after a few weeks, I was able to see how much liquid it pulled from the air. 😮

I felt like I was in the 5th grade science class again.
