Luv Hawaiian BBQ, Huntsville

Luv Hawaiian BBQ brings a taste of Hawaii to Huntsville with traditional island-style plate lunches. Located on Whitesburg Drive, the restaurant serves a mix of Hawaiian and Asian-inspired dishes featuring grilled meats, rice and the creamy macaroni salad that belongs on a proper Hawaiian plate lunch.

For anyone who has spent time in Hawaii, the menu will look familiar. For those who haven't, this is a chance to experience a different style of barbecue and discover some island favorites.

The Hawaiian BBQ Mix is a good place to start, especially if you want to sample different meats. The restaurant also serves BBQ chicken, BBQ beef and Korean-style short ribs. The meats are marinated and grilled, giving them a savory flavor with a touch of sweetness.

Chicken katsu is another favorite. The chicken is breaded and fried until crispy and served with katsu sauce for dipping. You can also try Spam musubi, a popular Hawaiian snack made with grilled Spam and rice wrapped in seaweed. It might sound unusual if you've never had one, but give it a try!

Most plates come with steamed rice and macaroni salad. The combination of grilled meat, rice and cool macaroni salad is a big part of what makes Hawaiian plate lunches so satisfying.

Come hungry! The portions are generous and a plate lunch can easily make for a filling meal. The restaurant offers casual dining and takeout, making it convenient for lunch or dinner.

If you're visiting for the first time, consider ordering a mixed BBQ plate and adding a Spam musubi on the side. You'll get a good introduction to the flavors of Hawaii without having to travel thousands of miles.
