Burning in Madison City Limits

Q: Can I legally burn leaves or brush in my yard?
Not within Madison city limits. The city follows strict burn ordinances due to safety, air quality, and neighborhood disturbance concerns. Open burning of yard debris is prohibited.

Q: What about using a fire pit or chiminea for small fires?
Recreational fires like those in enclosed fire pits or chimineas are generally allowed... but they must be small, constantly attended, and at least 25 feet away from structures. Use clean, dry wood only... no trash or leaves.

Q: Who do I contact if I see unsafe burning or have questions?
Call the Madison Fire Department’s non-emergency line at (256) 772-3326. They can guide you on city code and respond if there's a concern.

Fluffy Fluffy Cafe

If you're looking for a fun little getaway worth the drive, I’ve got a sweet tip... Fluffy Fluffy Café in Huntsville (it’s at 2338 Whitesburg Dr, Suite B)

The first thing you notice is the heavenly aroma of soufflé pancakes baking... it's these tall, fluffy stacks people come from all over to see (and shake) before digging in. Every bite is like a cloud drizzled in fresh fruit, cream, or matcha. Plus, they've added something extra sweet... ice cream! Think cookies‑and‑cream pancakes topped with a scoop of velvety vanilla... Yes, it's exactly as indulgent as it sounds .

Gather your brunch crew... Fluffy Fluffy is ready to wow you with jiggle, joy, and that extra ice cream magic. It’s not just a stop, it’s an experience. Go treat yourselves this weekend!

Backyard Beekeepers Are Keeping Our Community Sweet

Madison is buzzing... with backyard beekeepers! Residents across our city are joining a growing movement toward sustainability, helping pollinate gardens, support local wildflowers, and produce fresh, local honey.

And just to clarify... no, this isn’t about that Jason Statham action movie The Beekeeper (though we’re flattered if it got your attention). These are real-life Madison residents helping the planet one hive at a time.

  • Local support and education: The Madison County Beekeepers Association has been active since 1974, offering annual classes, meetings (odd-numbered months at the Huntsville Botanical Garden), swarm removal, and mentor support for beekeepers old and new.

  • Urban beekeeping made easy: According to the Alabama Cooperative Extension, keeping bees is entirely doable in small yards... as long as you space hives thoughtfully, check HOA rules, and coordinate with neighbors.

  • Delicious local honey: You’ll find locally made honey at Saturday's Madison City Farmers Market (1088 Hughes Rd), featuring vendors like Three Girls and a Hive and Heritage Honey Farm.

Curious about getting started or just want to support local honey-makers?
